The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in June

A Sidcup-based filmmaker and graduate actor coach has made it through to the finals of the UK Freelancer of the Year Awards.

Gareth Fient has been selected for the Aspire award for freelancers aged 23 and under, which means he is in with a chance of scooping a £3,000 prize.

He is up against four other finalists, with the winner set to be announced in an awards ceremony in London on National Freelancers Day on June 9.

Mr Fient runs Shoot N’ Snip, a business that helps graduate actors by providing head-shots, showreel material and showreel editing.

He said: “I’ve always dreamed of owning businesses and being my own boss. Being able to employ and help others with work is always the most rewarding part in my eyes. Having a job that changes day to day is a lot of fun, and I get to meet and work with people from all backgrounds.

“Being recognised as a finalist will be a real boost to the business, and will hopefully inspire others to do the same.”
