Christmas celebrations kick-off in Sidcup on Saturday, with stilt walkers, reindeers and Santa himself taking over the high street.

The Sidcup Christmas Festival will run all day, with children able to visit Santa in his grotto and adults able to enjoy a free mince pie and mulled wine courtesy of Waitrose.

Activities on the day include a recycled Christmas decoration competition, as well as handlers displaying an array of animals - including reindeer and barn owls.

Cllr Linda Bailey, cabinet member for economic development and regeneration, said: “It’s great to see so much exciting activity taking place in Sidcup.

“I hope lots of people will come along to enjoy the festivities and see all the great products on offer on the high street.”

A food bank will be located near Waitrose, anyone who donates will be entered into a raffle to win one of seven festive hampers.

The Christmas Shop, in Sidcup High Street, will also odder a range of gifts on Saturday - with traders including Alexis Booton Cards, Babywrap and Serene Hearts all taking space in the store.

In the new year, the shop will be re-launched as Sidcup & Co - a mixed use business space. Anyone interested in using the space for business events or workspace can contact the In Store for Sidcup team by email at, or by calling 020 3045 4991.
