Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a tyre workshop on Maidstone Road in Sidcup last night.

A tyre workshop and around 100 tyres were destroyed by the blaze, but there were no reports of any injuries.

Watch manager Tom Pawley, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters were faced with a well developed fire when they got to the scene.

“Crews worked hard to quickly bring the blaze under control.”

The brigade was called at 9.47pm and the fire was under control at 11.50pm.

Fire crews from Sidcup, Orpington, Bexley and Eltham fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
