A protest about the future of Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup has been backed by Old Bexley and Sidcup MP James Brokenshire.

The Queen Mary’s Yes campaign is holding the protest on Saturday (October 20) at 11 in The Green, Sidcup, to make their views known.

Queen Mary’s, in Frognal Avenue, is run by South London Healthcare Trust which went into administration in July. Administrator Matthew Kershaw is due to release his plans for the services run by the trust in a report which will be released next month.

Old Bexley and Sidcup MP Mr Brokenshire thinks it is crucial to safeguard the long-term future of the hospital.

Mr Brokenshire said: “The campaign is about securing the best outcome for the hospitals and services in Sidcup.

“This includes delivering new facilities such as a brand new radiotherapy centre as part of the Queen Mary’s campus proposals.”

As well as delivering new services like a radiotherapy centre and implementing the campus plan, which would see a more services made available at Queen Mary’s, the campaign wants Mr Kershaw to place the hospital under NHS ownership.
