The town could scoop a £10,000 prize
Sidcup is being considered as a rising star amongst Britain’s best high streets, ahead of a national competition.
The town’s high street has been entered into the rising star category of the Great British High Street 2016 competition, after years of improvement works.
Vacancy rates along the street are at record low of 2.6 per cent.
Linda Bailey is cabinet member for regeneration and growth at Bexley council.
She said: “I hope the Great British High Street competition will recognise the exciting transformation that has taken place in Sidcup.
“There is a very exciting buzz building here now. Businesses of all shapes and sizes are keen to come to Sidcup and there is more choice for local shoppers.”
The top three shortlisted in each category will be announced in October.
The finalists will then go through to a public vote hosted online, with the winner set to receive a £10,000 prize.
