Sidcup town centre will receive a £1.8million makeover thanks to funding from London Mayor Boris Johnson and Bexley Council.

The Mayor is putting £1.2m into the pot with the rest coming from the council.

Cabinet ember for economic development and regeneration Cllr Linda Bailey said: “We want to hear the views of residents, businesses and visitors to Sidcup about changing the high street for the better.

“There will be a range of opportunities to get involved and find out more. Watch this space for some exciting news about how we’ll be working with you to achieve this.”

The launch event for the project, dubbed In Store for Sidcup, will take place on Tuesday, at 9-11 Sidcup High Street, with demonstrations at 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

The council is keen to get local people involved and show them how they will benefit from the project.

Boris Johnson said: “Sidcup is an important centre of commerce in Bexley and I am delighted we’ve been able to provide £1.2 million to get this project off the ground.”
