Prepare for an afternoon of classical Christmas crackers as Sidcup Symphony Orchestra deliver their annual family concert on Sunday.

With James Ross conducting affairs, the orchestra are set to rattle through traditional Christmas carols, as well as music by Smetana, Prokofiev, Gounod, Leroy Anderson and Puccini.

The concert, at St John’s Church, in Church Road, Sidcup will begin at 4pm - with wine and soft drinks served during the interval.

Sidcup Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1961 and has played all over the Bexley borough for more than 50 years.

This will be the last performance of the year for the group, who rehearse on Thursday evenings at St Barnabas Church, in St Paul’s Cray.

They have a number of vacancies for budding musicians, including space for a third bassoon player, one timpani player and two trumpeters.

Tickets for the Sunday concert cost £10 on the door. You can also book in advance by calling 020 8300 3268, or 01322 557 458.
