Slade Green stables go up in flames as blaze damages 80% of out buildings

The fire started yesterday

Fire crews are investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed most of a range of stables yesterday (Monday).

London Fire Brigade was called just after 2.30pm after the fire broke out at a range of stables and outbuildings in Moat Lane, Slade Green.

On arrival, crews from Erith, Sidcup, Bexley and Plaistow fire stations began tackling the blaze.

Officers from Met Police were also called to the scene.

More than 30 firefighters cooled gas cylinders to prevent hem from exploding in the heat of the fire.

The inferno burned through 80 per cent of the out buildings on the site.

Crews managed to bring the fire under control by 5.34pm.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
