THOUSANDS took advantage of the Russian blizzard conditions this week as the year's worst snowfall in 18 years hit the UK.

Residents across north Kent and south London woke to a winter wonderland on Monday as the artic conditions left many stranded at home.

Despite the treacherous conditions many made the journey to work as others enjoyed a day off with their children to play in the snow.

Planes, trains, buses and cars were crippled by the heavy snowfall over Sunday night and Monday morning and icy conditions on Tuesday added to the misery.

Get your paper this Thursday for a picture special and a round-up of how the snowfall affected your area.
