David Evenett says the company doesn’t seem to care about its passengers
Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett has criticised Southeastern for its rail services after a summit held by rail minister, Claire Perry, at the House of Commons this morning (January 22).
The summit brought together representatives from Southeastern, Network rail and MPs from south east London and Kent to discuss the performance of the company.
Southeastern and Network Rail were asked to explain why so many issues had occurred since the franchise was extended last year and to discuss the London Bridge redevelopment.
MPs were also given a presentation on plans by the train operator to improve their services.
Mr Evennett said “Information from Southeastern has been appalling.
“Services are just delayed or cancelled without explanation. People have not been able to get on overcrowed trains. In my opinion, Southeastern don’t seem to understand or care about their passengers.”
Commenting after the summit Mr Evennett said “I regularly take up cases on behalf of constituents complaining about Southeastern’s performance and I will continue to lobby for the improved quality, capacity and punctuality that are so desperately needed.”
