Walkers are striding out to raise money for a Bexley charity which helps people who are homeless or struggling on low incomes.

The sponsored walk for the BCU Life Skills Centre in Trinity Place, Bexleyheath starts at St John’s Church in Danson Lane in Welling at 9.30am tomorrow (Sat April 21) and finishes at Christ Church on Bexleyheath Broadway.

The event has been run for the last 19 years by George and Rheta Birchall who will be participating in the nine mile walk.

It is hoped that between 30 and 50 people will take part - and that the rain will hold.

The charity offers help to people who are out of work, struggling financially and provides one to one counselling, hot and cold food, training in life skills and putting them in touch with other charities. It runs women’s only sessions on Thursdays.
