A FOOTBALL club is at the centre of a series of events to keep children busy in the holidays.

Charlton Athletic Football Club is due to come to Bexley and Bromley this week as part of a Summer Slam programme of events giving kids a chance to play football, learn different types of dancing and enjoy face painting.

The roadshow visited Thamesmead's Southlake Centre on Tuesday and will be at North Cray Community Centre, in Beden's Road, from 12 to 4pm today.

It moves to Russell Park tomorrow, Danson Youth Centre next Wednesday, and Queens Gardens, Bromley next Friday, supported by Bromley Youth Services.

Programme organiser Carl Krauhaus said: "All the events are free and there is something going on to suit children of all ages.

"It's something we do every summer to try and engage children in positive activities."

The event moves on to Priory School, in Orpington, next Saturday, then to Kings Farm, in Gravesend, on August 26.
