Pupils from a Belvedere school had the chance to glimpse inside ongoing works at a new Belvedere park this week.

Replacing the old splash park, Belvedere Beach is hoped to open at the end of July or start of August, in time for the summer holidays, but work is continuing at the site.

Students from St Augustine’s primary school visited the work site and were told works were on course to refurbish the site’s kiosk and toilet facilities in time fror the grand opening in the coming weeks.

Unlike its predecessor, the new park will be open all year around, and will offer “fully inclusive” play areas for youngsters with sensory and educational needs.

Peter Craske, cabinet member for community safety, environment and leisure said: “It has been great to welcome pupils and staff from St Augustine’s for an exclusive look at the new playground. This is going to be a great facility, where families and friends can have fun on the beach every day.”
