Stars of property market saluted

BUSINESS leaders and innovators from the property industry were honoured by the Times at a glitzy awards ceremony which honoured excellence.

BUSINESS leaders and innovators from the property industry were honoured by the Times at a glitzy awards ceremony which honoured excellence.

Archant London, publishers of Kentish Times Newspapers, hosted the Property Awards 2008 in style last Friday at the Marriott Hotel in Bexleyheath.

Television and radio star Paul Ross, hosted the gala evening co-organised by Archant Property Sales Manager Raj Sangha.

Enzo Testa, Executive Managing Director of Archant London, presented the awards.

Speaking afterwards, he said: "The Property Awards have been launched in a particularly difficult market. However, the success of the event spoke for itself on the night. I had numerous guests saying afterwards that they could not believe what a fantastic event it had been, and that they couldn't imagine anything being improved upon.

"We are extremely proud of our association with the local property market throughout the areas that we serve and we look forward to celebrating with them again in 2009."

Winners included Belvoir! letting agents in Gravesend in the Start Up of the Year category, Abdul Dawood, of Maritime Properties, Greenwich, in the Negotiator of the Year category and The Robinson Jackson Estate Agency Partnership, of Welling, acclaimed as the Residential Multi-Branch Estate Agency of the Year. St James South Thames won the Residential Development of the Year award for its Kingswood Chase development.

Sealeys Estate Agency in Gravesend stole the show by winning the hotly contested Best Residential Estate Agency of the Year category, as well as being crowned Letting Agency of the Year.

John Hooker, Publishing Director at Kentish Times Newspapers, said: "We wanted to celebrate our achievements within the Kentish Times property section. We have grown our market share considerably over the past 18 months.

"The property market affects us all and we sometimes underestimate the overall effect it has on the economy. With the awards, we wanted to celebrate excellence and give something back to our advertisers. I believe we have achieved this and in doing so, we have gained an edge on our competitors."

Guests at the black-tie event, sponsored by south-east London businesses Dodd Lewis and JCHcom.com, enjoyed a three-course dinner and live music.
