Bexley libraries are looking for volunteers to help run the annual Summer Reading Challenge that takes place in all libraries from July 14 – September 8.

Every year, children across the borough take part in the challenge that asks them to read six books over the summer holiday, and at the end of the challenge participants receive a special certificate and medal.

Last year an impressive 4,782 children and young people from the borough took part.

Volunteers, who must be 15 or over, will talk to children and young people about the books they have read and encourage them to join in and complete the challenge.

For more information on the role, residents can ask at their local library or go to www.bexley.gov.uk/libraries

The closing date for applications is June 2.
