SUPERMARKET-led consortiums have been short-listed to build a council s new offices.

SUPERMARKET-led consortiums have been short-listed to build a council's new offices.

Bexley council named those led by Tesco and Sainsbury's to build their state-of-the-art office in place of their old premises in Broadway, Bexleyheath.

The other two developers chosen last Friday were John Laing and The Mall Fund.

Residents will be able to comment on the new designs at an exhibition due to open early next year.

Leader of the Council Teresa O'Neill said: "The potential to enhance the vitality and viability of Bexleyheath town centre is one of the criteria submissions we will be evaluating against."

The scheme is part of the council's Bexley First Programme, the aim of which is to save the borough money by selling off council sites, including Crayford Town Hall - which was sold last month.
