A MUSIC teacher was banned from giving children private drumming lessons last Friday after he admitted downloading child pornography on his home computer.

Derek Coverley, 61, of Northdown Road, Welling, spent two years building up a sick library of pictures, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

The drummer who is a member of an aging rock band, admitted 10 counts of making indecent images of children between March 2007 and April last year.

Judge Geoffrey Rivlin adjourned the sentencing so that a pre sentence report could be prepared by the probation service.

Coverley, was ordered to comply with a sexual offence prevention order which states he is not allowed to do any paid or unpaid work which is likely to bring him into contact with people under the age of 18.

The bespectacled defendant was granted bail and will be sentenced on April 8.
