Barnaby Jacob Crawshaw, 13, from Bexley, was the VIP guest of Bernie Ecclestone at Silverstone last Friday, ahead of last Sunday's 2009 Formula One Santander British Grand Prix.

The teen witnessed Jason Button, Fernando Alonso and Louis Hamilton set their fastest laps of the day.

He said: "It was hard to take pictures of them as they were going round so quick. It was really noisy and after a while your hearing goes for a bit."

But he did manage to have his picture taken with Louis Hamilton's dad and the driver's girlfriend, Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls.

The teenager, who is due to have another major operation on his legs today, has a faulty growth on his tibia and fibula bones and has no ligaments in his knee and wears knee support.

Frames have helped lengthen his leg 11 inches in over 11 years and he still manages to play football and basketball. He was among 30 Great Ormond Street Hospital patients taken to Silverstone last weekend.
