A TEENAGER who crashed when riding a stolen motorbike is said to be in a critical but stable condition.

The 18-year-old boy hit a van in Beaconsfield Road, Mottingham, last Sunday at 4.30pm as he was riding a blue and white Honda 650cc bike with a 15-year-old friend.

Both teenagers, who were said to not be wearing crash helmets, were taken to Kings College Hospital in Denmark Hill with life threatening injuries but on Tuesday their condition was said to be stable.

A spokesman for Bromley Police said the motorbike had been stolen from an address in New Eltham earlier in the day.

The driver of the van escaped without injury.

Following the incident, police closed the road from the junction with Kimmeridge Road to the junction with Framlingham Crescent until 10pm.
