Staff from a McDonald’s branch in Thamesmead collected more than 15 bags of rubbish in a clean-up.

They focused the litter pick around Hutchins Road but also do cleaning patrols in the area three times a day.

Taimoor Sheikh, manager of the restaurant in Twin Tumps Way, said: “It was inspiring to see members of our team join forces to take action on litter that damages our environment. “Unfortunately there are still a significant proportion of people who think it’s acceptable to drop litter – it’s everyone’s responsibility to dispose of litter responsibly and help protect the local environment.”

The efforts are part of the Mayor of London’s Capital Clean-up programme.
