Thamesmead Town continue fine winning run

Thamesmead Town won for the fourth game running with a convincing 4-0 victory over bottom club Ilford on Saturday (12).

It did not take long for the home side to take the lead at Bayliss Avenue, with in-form striker Stuart Zanone tapping in after 14 minutes.

In a one-sided contest Ilford, who have won just one league game this season, offered little and Mead went further ahead eight minutes before half-time. Rob Carter was bundled over in the penalty area and Ashley Probets beat George Dawson in the visitors goal.

And Probets made it 3-0 before the break with a long range free-kick.

Ilford made a better fist of the game in the second-half with Dominica international Joel Etienne-Clark going close on a couple of occasions but the three points were already secure for Thamesmead.

Lea Dawson put some gloss on the score line six minutes from time when he headed in Probets corner.

The result sees Thamesmead stay seventh in the Ryman League North Division but they have games in hand on the teams above them.

They are next in league action when they travel to Redbridge on Saturday (19).
