AN ANNUAL lights up parade attracted thousands to a town centre.

AN ANNUAL lights up parade attracted thousands to a town centre.

The 10th Eltham Lights Up Parade in the High Street saw pupils from nearby schools take part in an attractive lantern procession last Thursday.

The parade was followed by family entertainment including street entertainers and floats before the Christmas lights were switched on.

Performers from the Bob Hope Theatre, Belcanto Theatre School and Deansfield Primary School Choir entertained the crowds outside the St Mary's Community Centre.

Rita Baleham, who had two of her five children in the parade, said: "They are so proud of the lanterns they have made. What's really great about it is the sense of community we get every year. It's like a pilgrimage to Eltham High Street. I love it.
