KENTISH Times series group editor Melody Foreman and deputy editor Kate Bryson joined HM The Queen at a garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Melody and Kate had opportunity to mingle with a host of VIPs from around the country and other parts of the world.

She said: "It was a wonderful day and the Queen was tremendously gracious spending time with as many of her guests as she could.

"Even though there were some rain showers she managed to smile and joke with all those she met. We were well impressed."

The garden party was also attended by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. The Princess Royal was also happy to meet dignitaries who had been invited into the various marquees.

Each member of the royal party walked around the Palace gardens and along with guests enjoyed tea, cake, iced coffee and sandwiches.

Two military bands played a selection of numbers including 'I'll Put a Spell on You' and themes from James Bond films.

Melody added: "We weren't allowed to take any pictures in the garden but once outside the Palace we managed a couple of snaps on our mobile phones. The garden party was magnificent and it was a privilege to represent the Kentish Times series at such a prestigious event."
