The senior MP visited council offices on Thursday
Transport secretary Chris Grayling met with borough MPs and councillors on Thursday to discuss hopes for expanding the borough’s transport links.
The visit, which followed a recent meeting with Transport for London, allowed for fresh calls to be made over the key hopes including the proposed expansion of Crossrail from Abbey to Erith, Slade Green and Belvedere.
Erith and Thamesmead MP Teresa Pearce joined Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett for the visit, alongside council leader Teresa O’Neill with her cabinet members Alex Sawyer and Linda Bailey.
Cllr O’Neill said; “It was great to welcome Mr Grayling to Bexley and give him a flavour of what would like to see in our borough. Good infrastructure is key to Bexley’s growth and I hope that this visit may be the start of a really positive conversation.”
At a previous meeting with TfL bosses, Bexley cabinet members made the case for improved public transport links around the borough, better maintenance of the A2 and A20 and expanding the local cycle network.
