A POLICE inspector said an enthusiastic and dedicated police officer who died in a motorbike crash will be "sorely missed".
Bexley police officer Simon Merrilees, 30, died after his Suzuki motorbike was in collision with a Vauxhall Astra on the Boship roundabout on the A22 in Hailsham, Sussex.
Mr Merrilees of Dunton Green, Sevenoaks joined Bexley police seven years ago.
His friend and colleagues have been paying tribute the officer who died at the scene of the crash on June 25 at approximately 3.06pm, when his Suzuki motorcycle was in collision with a Vauxhall Astra.
Bexley's Chief Inspector Chris Hafford said: "Simon was an enthusiastic and dedicated officer whose life has been cut short in tragic circumstances. Simon was not only a colleague but a friend to many of us and all of our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time. He will be sorely missed by everyone at Bexley Police.
