A MAN has been charged with the murder of a teenager after his body was found in a recycling truck.

The decomposed body of 17-year-old Nathan Lyons, from Birmingham was found at Viridor Waste in Century Wharf, Crayford Creek, Crayford, last Tuesday afternoon.

Scott Hancox, 34, of Fownhope Close in Redditch, Worcestershire, appeared at Redditch Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with murdering the teenager. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Worcester Crown Court today.

Bosses at Viridor closed last Tuesday afternoon but re-opened the following day.

A shocked driver spotted the male body as he dropped off a load of co-mingled recycling materials after delivering from outside Kent.

It is thought the body would have gone through a dust cart, been tipped and then loaded on to the lorry before arriving in Crayford.

Police conducted a fingerprint search of the lorry the body was found in.

A source at Viridor said: "It was pretty grim the body was just lying there and police spent the afternoon searching through waste.

"They were very methodical, doing a fingerprint search of the lorry and rubbish.
