Thamesmead youngsters have really got into the holiday spirit this half-term, taking part in an array of activities provided by Trust Thamesmead.

Sessions included arts and crafts, street dance, indoor climbing and recording sessions in The Link Thamesmead’s recording studio, which is available for hire.

JLS fan Shannon Leslie, 10, was one of many young people who enjoyed their recording session: “I sung Abba’s Thank You for the Music, as it was a song I sung in a show. I can’t wait to get the CD in my hand and play it to my mum.”

A sentiment backed-up by nine-year-old Jessica Barrows: “I love singing and would love to be a singer or an actress when I grow up.”

Kurtis Daines, nine, who took part in indoor climbing said: “I really enjoyed climbing to the top of the wall. I can’t wait to do it all again!”

The two-week activity programme finishes with a talent show managed by Thamesmead Youth Voice’s (TYV) Access Group, a group of 11 to 19 year olds who aim to become fully-fledged members of TYV. It takes place at The Link Thamesmead tonight from 6.30pm, tickets are £1.50 adults (16 and over) and just £1 for children (15 and under) and OAPs.

For more information about activities, opportunities and spaces for hire at Thamesmead’s newest community hub, The Link Thamesmead, call 0208 320 4499 or visit thelinkthamesmead.co.uk
