A TELEVISION series which sends round a "hard taskmaster" to rummage through businesses' records have been filming in the borough.

The weekly four part series on Five called The Business Inspector, presented by millionaire entrepreneur Hilary Devey, begins next Wednesday.

As part of her travels, Ms Devey (pictured right) paid a visit to Rendrive Haulage in Crabtree Manorway South, Belvedere.

Owner of Rendrive Haulage Harry Clapp said: "Hilary's a hard taskmaster, but she's fair. Her sales and marketing advice has been invaluable."

The programme has been sponsored by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) as way to raise awareness of good record keeping among small businesses. Ms Devey left her career in the distribution sector to set up her own company but now hopes to give businesses her tips for success. At first bankers refused to back her venture and she was forced to sell her house to fund the project.

But she went onto become chief executive of the Pall-Ex group, the UK's number one palletised freight distribution network Her visits on the series so far include trips to a pole-dancing fitness instructor, a florist and a karting company.

Advice on the show includes how to keep the books, secure a bank loan, writing business plans and growing a business.
