A teenager whose bike was stolen in Bexley has been reunited with it thanks to Twitter.

Billy Nunn, 15, was playing football at the ball court in Wolvercote Road, Thamesmead, last Tuesday when he turned round to find that his Raleigh Shimano cycle had been stolen.

But two Thamesmead PCs had found the bike abandoned in a nearby park and posted an appeal on the @MPSThamesmead Twitter account.

Billy’s sister saw the tweet and the teenager was reunited with his bike the following day.

No arrests have been made and officers are still investigating.

PC Chris Molnar, one of the two officers who found the bike, said: “We’ve had numerous successful appeals over social media.

“We would like to take the opportunity to remind people to ensure their valuables are locked and secured as unfortunately there are thieves about.”
