More than 1,400 entries vied to win Broadway Shopping Centre’s Model Tots competition
Two infants from Abbey Wood and Barnehurst have been thrust into the world of modelling after winning a local competition.
Alex Callen, aged two and Emily Willoughby, aged three, were chosen as Bexley’s bonniest tots by judges in this year’s Broadway Shopping Centre’s Model Tots competition.
Alex, from Abbey Wood and Emily, from Barnehurst were given the good news at the Model Tots finale at Bexley Civic Offices on Wednesday, July 13.
The two-year-old’s mum, Leanne Pownall, said: “We’re all really shocked.
“We had been looking into getting him into modelling, because when I put pictures up on social media of Alex, everyone said he’s a gorgeous baby and I should put him in for modelling, so this is a really good prize. We’re very pleased.”
In total 1,405 children entered this year’s event at Broadway Shopping Centre, in Bexleyheath, raising £1,405 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Emily’s delighted mum and dad Siriluk and Ian Willoughby, were at the ceremony with her nan and grandad, Joyce and Barry Willoughby.
Mr Willoughby said: “We’re really happy. We’ve been really keen for Emily to get into modelling so we were really hopeful she might win.
“It’s the first time we’ve done anything like this, and so we’re delighted. Now she’s won we’ll definitely give it a go. We’re all really proud.“
