Two teenagers have been jailed for a total of 11 years and eight months after subjecting an innocent man and woman to rape and assault in their own home.

A 17-year old from Abbey Wood who cannot be named because of his age and Harold Muzeremwi, 18, of Chandlers Drive, Erith, were sentenced at Woolwich Crown court last Thursday.

The 17-year-old was found guilty of rape and jailed for eight years, and Muzeremwi was jailed for three years and eight months after pleading guilty to robbery.

On May 24, the two men broke into the victims’ home in Plumstead High Street, ransacked rooms looking for drugs, beat the man in his own living room and the younger man forced the woman to perform oral sex on him.

Detective Constable Chloe Taylor, from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Sapphire Command, said: “The victims were subjected to a terrifying ordeal at the hands of these young men, who behaved appallingly inside their flat.

“Despite the victims’ pleas that they were innocent, the suspects degraded the woman and beat the man leaving them both with physical and psychological scars.

“I have no doubt that these men are a danger to society and I hope that the sentence allows the victims to move forward with their lives.”

A third man who took part in the attack, has still not been traced by police.
