Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision in Kings Highway, Plumstead, last Sunday (22) at approximately 10.30pm.

The black Vauxhall Corsa travelling from Plumstead Common Road into Kings Highway collided with the white van outside the Kings Highway Garage.

The driver of the Corsa, a 22-year-old man and the passenger, a 23-year-old woman, are still in hospital, in what is being described by police as critical conditions.

Two photographs have now been released from nearby CCTV which shows three cars. The first shows a dark coloured hatchback and a light-coloured Ford Focus, while the second shows what appears to be a dark silver people carrier.

Detective Sergeant Phil Hames said: “These photos were taken from CCTV close to where the incident occurred and the drivers of the cars shown might hold the key to what happened on Sunday night.

“But most importantly as well as these drivers I would really like to speak to a male who stopped at the scene of the collision but left before speaking to police.

“He may also have seen what happened prior to the collision.”

Anyone with information can call the police on 020 8285 1574.
