A diversion is in place

The A2 has closed after a serious collision involving three vehicles this afternoon.

The road is closed between Bean and junction two of the M25.

Traffic is currently being diverted off the A2 at the B255 then via the A296 Watling Street to junction 1b of the M25.

Emergency services are in attendance.

There has been traffic throughout the day following the earlier closure of the eastbore tunnel at the Dartford Crossing, which resulted in more than 10 miles of queuing traffic on the M25 and the A2.

The tunnel has since reopened following overrunning engineering works.
