Bexley police have released CCTV footage of a man leaving a petrol station without paying, in a bid to identify him.

The incident took place on April 11 at the Shell Garage, Blackfen Road, Sidcup.

The footage shows a man parking his car beside the pumps, opening his petrol cap, but then getting two cannisters out of the boot, which he then fills. He puts them back in his boot and drives off without paying.

The vehicle being driven was a silver Vauxhall Astra with the licence plate LV54 WXB, however these have been deemed to be either stolen or false.

A spokesperson for Bexley police said: “Police would like to identify and speak to this male involved in a theft of petrol. Please contact us if you have any relevant information.”

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
