Welling actor Ben Jennings is currently in the midst of a long stint in the cast of Jersey Boys in the West End - and loving every minute of it.

The 27-year-old, who went to St Michael’s Primary School in Wrrotham Road, has been in the show for just over a year but is far from tired of the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons story.

He said: “I absolutely love being in this show. I’ve been here just over a year now and am still enjoying it which is a rare thing when you do eight shows a week.

“There is no comparison to live performing on stage.”

Ben says his big break came when he was just nine years old when he landed a role in an opera at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.

Despite having also done work in dance videos as well as commercials, stage is where his real love lies and he hopes his performances in Jersey Boys at the Prince Edward Theatre will attract some casting agents towards him.

“There is an ‘anything can happen’ atmosphere in stage performances and having each performance never being the same as the last mean that it can never really get boring.

“I have worked on sets when filming and it can at times be a monotonous process take after take plus the obvious lack of audience responses that we feed off.

“I would like to get involved with some more filming work as it’s always good to switch it up every other year and do something else but if I was to be offered another contract to stay here for another year then I’d be lying if I said I would not be tempted! It’s hard to line jobs up in this business as schedules always overlap each other so I’m afraid looking ahead doesn’t always offer the most reliable planning, for the most part it’s a case of put yourself out there and see what’s about.”
