Welling United beat Millwall 4-2 in their second pre-season friendly at Park View Road last night (July 9).

The Wings’s goals were scored by former Lions forward Kiernan Hughes-Mason, Malik Ouani, Doug Bergqvist and Fraser Franks while Charlie Penny and Ben Thompson scored for the visitors.

It was a good morale booster following a crushing 5-0 defeat against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Welling’s pre-season preparations continue against Leyton Orient on Friday (July 12) before they hit the road and visit Tonbridge Angels next Tuesday.

Manager Jamie Day has strengthened his squad by signing centre-back Blaine Hudson on loan from Cambridge United while forward Theo Fairweather-Johnson has left the squad, joining Thamesmead Town.
