A Welling fitness instructor is leading a Christmas Zumbathon charity fundraiser to honour the nurses who supported his mother as she was dying of breast cancer.

Kieran McCartney is holding the event in St Mary’s the Virgin Church in Wickham Street from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday, November 24.

All funds raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support and it is the fifth year running he has organised fundraising around Christmas. His mother Sue died aged 44 in 2000.

The 28-year-old said: “We had such amazing support from Macmillan nurses when my mum was ill.

“They were supportive every step of the way and we can’t thank them enough.

“One in three of us will get cancer and in the run-up to Christmas I would like to get as big a crowd together as possible to shed a few early pounds in a good cause.”

Tickets must be booked in advance with a donation of £15.

For more information on how to get involved call Kieran on 07403 048462.
