Welling United equalled the Blue Square Bet South winning record of 10 consecutive games with a dramatic late victory over Truro Town at Park View Road.

Anthony Acheampong headed the winning goal deep into stoppage time as the Wings rallied from 3-1 down at half-time.

The result means they remain two points behind leaders Salisbury City but six points clear of third place Dover Athletic.

It started promisingly for the home side when Loui Fazakerley scored after eight minutes.

But a crazy six minute spell turned the game on its head. Kieffer Moore scored two and Sam Watkins also netted to put the league’s bottom club 3-1 up.

Welling came roaring back after the break and earned a penalty as Ross Lafayette was brought down by Lee Hodges, who was sent off. Joe Healy scored to reduce the arrears.

As time was running out Lafayette smashed in an equaliser with seven minutes remaining and Acheampong sent the crowd into raptures with his third goal in two games.

The Wings will equal the record if they win at Staines Town next Tuesday (15) and have now won their last nine games in the league, 11 including FA Trophy ties.
