Welling win seven-goal thriller thanks to Lafayette double

Welling United won a seven-goal thriller at home against Southport to finish the campaign off with a victory.

Striker Ross Lafayette grabbed the winner with a 73rd minute penalty to go with his earlier finish on 10 minutes.

After initially going a goal down Southport fought back to go 3-1 up at half-time.

But Harry Beautyman curled a free-kick in and then Jake Gallagher drew Welling level.

And with 18 minutes remaining Southport’s Aristote Nsiala handled in the area gifting Welling a spot-kick, which Lafayette duly netted.
