Welling won their sixth game in a row to move up to second in the table on Saturday.

The Wings travelled to big-spending Eastleigh and won 3-1 in the Blue Square Bet South.

After an excellent run of form player-manager Jamie Day was named manager of the month for November.

All this despite trailing at half-time after Craig McAllister scored for the hosts after nine minutes.

Whatever Jamie Day said in the interval worked as Scott Kinch equalised with an excellent strike just before the hour mark.

Defender Anthony Acheampong scored his first goal of the season to give Welling the lead after 68 minutes and Kiernan Hughes-Mason clinched the points with 10 minutes remaining.

The win leaves them five points behind leaders Salisbury City, having played a game less.

It followed on from an impressive 5-2 victory over Billericay Town last Tuesday (November 27).

Ben Martin, Joe Healy and Kinch gave the Wings a 3-0 half-time lead at Park View Road.

Craig Edwards pulled one back for the visitors but Hughes-Mason and Jon Main clinched the three points before Joe Benjamin scored another consolation in the last minute.

Welling were due to play Bromley Town in a local derby at Park View Road on Tuesday night (4).
