A PUB chain is seeking nominations for its 'community hero' award.

Management at the Lord Kitchener, Welling, and The Princess Alice, Thamesmead, today launched a competition to find selfless Londoners like mums, teachers and sports coaches.

A winner for each pub will be 'crowned', given a free meal, and entered into a regional stage competition.

Marc Butterfield, manager at the Lord Kitchener, said: "We are looking for two people that go the extra mile to help others so we can turn the tables and treat them for once."

The competition closes on May 8. Application forms can be found at the pubs. For more information visit
