A MOTHER-OF-TWO confessed to the murder of her husband as he slept in their marital bed, her lover told the Old Bailey.

Warehouse man Gary McGinley, 24, of Franklin Road, Bexleyheath, claimed that he found cheating wife Maria Boyne, 30, with blood all over her hands on April 24 last year. He then saw her husband Graham Boyne, 41, lying dead in bed in their marital home in Parkside Avenue, the court heard on Tuesday. McGinley, who worked in Welling, said Boyne asked him to pick her up after the alleged murder. He said: "Maria was upset and crying. She said she killed Graham. She looked in a terrible state. She was crying and she seemed in a bad way. I didn't believe her at first then I saw blood on her hands. I went into the house and she was screaming 'what have I done?'"

McGinley said he went into the bedroom and saw the body of Graham Boyne on the bloodstained bed. He added: "I thought he was dead. I said to Maria 'what have you done?' Maria said she was going to kill herself. She said she did it for us. It made me feel guilty. I said call the police and ambulance but she told me 'no, don't do that, I'm going to kill myself.'"

The pair then drove to Dartford and then Southend to spend the night in a bed and breakfast. Last Thursday Boyne claimed a mystery man had 'barged' into their home in the middle of the night and killed her husband. Both deny murder. The trial continues.
