A CHEATING wife and her lover stabbed her husband to death in the family home so they could start a new life together, the Old Bailey heard.

Mother-of-two Maria Boyne, 30, wanted partner Graham Boyne out of the way after becoming pregnant with the child of 24-year-old Gary McGinley, it is claimed.

She had previously threatened her husband and boasted how she would get their house in Barnehurst once he was dead, jurors were told.

The victim, a 41 year-old TV repair man, was found dead by his father in his front bedroom on the morning of April 24 last year.

He had been stabbed more than 20 times in the middle of the night.

Jobless Boyne and McGinley, a warehouseman, fled to Southend-on-Sea, Essex, the same day to stay at a hotel before handing themselves in to police.

Phone records show that McGinley and Boyne were together before and after the murder.

In a series of text messages to Boyne, McGinley declared his love and arranged a meeting after 6pm.

It is thought Mr Boyne was attacked between 1am and 2am on April 24, 2008, at the matrimonial home in Parkside Avenue, Barnehurst.

Boyne, of Parkside Avenue, Barnehurst and McGinley, of Franklin Road, Bexleyheath, both deny murder. The trial continues.
