A woman was rescued by firefighters after being called to a house fire in Abbey Wood.

The incident happened on Easter Sunday (8) in a mid-terraced house on Congress Road and the woman was treated for smoke inhalation.

The brigade were called at 10.02pm and the blaze was under control by 10.45pm.

Two fire engines and ten firefighters from Plumstead fire station attended the scene.

Part of the living room was damaged and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
