Two men have appeared in court via video link charged with an assault on another man in Charlton on Bonfire Night which left the victim in a critical condition.
Both defendants were charged with grievous bodily harm on Tuesday in connection with the attack outside the JenningsBet bookmakers in Church Lane, Charlton, last Saturday at about 7pm.
William Munn, 24, of no fixed abode, and Robert Munn, 29, a builder, of The Rodings, Woodford Green, both appeared at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday via video link from Plumstead police station.
They were remanded in custody to appear at Woolwich Crown Court next Wednesday.
The victim, who at the time of going to press was thought to be in a stable condition in hospital, was beaten unconscious after leaving the bookmakers.
He was taken to hospital in what police described as a critical condition.
Two women, aged 21 and 52, were arrested in connection with the investigation and have been bailed to return to a south London police station in early February.
