One of the accused Woolwich killers was stabbed and witnessed a murder himself in Erith in January 2008, it has been revealed.

Michael Adebowale, 22, who was pictured holding a blade minutes after he is alleged to have killed soldier Lee Rigby with Michael Adebolajo, 28, was just 16 when he saw his friend Firadon Alizadeh killed by drug dealer Lee James.

Adebowale was in a flat in Verona House in the Larner Road estate when the 32-year-old came by claiming he wanted to buy drugs.

James then killed Mr Alizadeh, 18, and stabbed Adebowale and another 16-year-old in the flat.

He was sentenced in December of that year after a trial at Southwark Crown Court and a Met Police statement said at the time: “Firadon Alizadeh was inside the flat with two friends when James entered the flat on the pretext of buying drugs.

“Having armed himself with a knife before going to the flat, he then attacked the three teenagers, fatally stabbing Firadon, who died of his injuries at the scene.”

Adebowale has been discharged from hospital this afternoon and is in custody in a south London police station. He has been further arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a police officer. Adebolajo remains in hospital.
