Would-be voters urged to register ahead of general election

The vote is just over a month away

Residents are being reminded they are responsible for registering to vote ahead of next month’s election.

Ahead of the general election on June 8, would-be voters have until May 22 to register.

Every eligible person in each household is now responsible for registering themselves under Individual Electoral Registration rules.

Poll cars for the election are due to be sent out to homes across the country from May 8, and will include polling station information.

For those who are unable to attend a polling station, or who would prefer to vote by post, applications for postal or postal proxy must be made by Tuesday 23 May.

Applications for proxy votes must be made by Wednesday 31 May.
