BUDDING young filmmakers are due to have their work shown at a prestigious national film festival.

The Sidcup teens aged 13 to 18, who formed Wind and Rain Productions, will have their film Start Thinking screened at The Co-operative Young Filmmakers Festival, which is being held on October 8 and 9 at Bradford's National Media Museum. The entry was one of only 111 chosen from 320 productions entered by young filmmakers, schools, youth groups, arts groups, colleges and video workshops from across the UK.

The selected films, all under six minutes long, will be shown over nine screenings throughout the two-day event and include drama, documentary, animation and comedy films along with music videos. Award-winning director of smash hits Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz Edgar Wright, said: "The Co-operative Festival is a fantastic opportunity for any young filmmaker. I saw all my early shorts in front of packed houses at the National Media Museum. It was great and inspired me ever onward."

Screenings are free. To book tickets telephone 0870 701 0201. For more information about the festival, email info@youngfilm-makers.coop or phone 0161 246 2216 for a programme.
